Feels like Spring

The pickles were ready to eat today! My mom-in-law already gave me a whole box load of hers, then she taught me to make the exact same ones and so I have 6 kg of those. This is a lot of daikon pickle. I'd rather eat daikon like this though - I'm getting rather tired of it.

I worked outside all day - it felt like spring. It just felt good to dig. Luckily, the yard is never done so I have something to dig at. I have to remove the sod of the invasive grasses before the weather warms up and get the weeds under control. The dog and I walked around the village, which was humming with activity - fertilizing the wheat, plowing between rows, working in gardens, hanging daikon to dry for pickles (the salted kind). Since the trees and gardens are so barren during winter, the green in the fields adds a bit of anticipation to the season to come. It feels fresh and wonderful to walk around the village.
