Garlic Whips

Busy with weeding these days...lots of maintenance as the weather warms and early summer plantings grow like crazy. The onions are ready to harvest although mine didn't do so well - I think they drowned in the mud on the upper field. The wheat is more and more golden everyday, luring us towards a harvest.

The garlic has sent up flower shoots, scapes, or what I call garlic whips. These need to be trimmed so that the plant can send its energy into the bulb to finish developing nice cloves of garlic. The garlic whips are delicious brushed with olive oil, salted and then grilled (or pan grilled). I think they are heavenly. Of course, I will eat anything with lots of garlic taste. Tonight, they will be tossed in with some pasta.
