I understand why my mother-in-law hoards things - she survived WWII and she lived half her life at poverty level. My husband, on the other had, really doesn't have an excuse. It's bad enough that he has 45 pairs of socks and 14 winter coats, but as I was trying to clean up the entry way, I found more golf clubs. How many golf clubs does a guy need? There is a set in the bedroom, a few in the closet (sounds kinky), two bags in the hallway, a few clubs behind the shoe box, one in the car under the seat and four in the umbrella holder. You never know when you just might have the urge to swing a golf club - so maybe it is good to keep them so handy.

I finished caulking the upstairs shower but I have to replace the shower head - a vinegar bath was not enough to unclog years of mineral build-up. I scrubbed the iron stained interior of the shower will every chemical I could find until it was white. If I had known about the bad water we have, I would have chosen a dark color for the tiles and sinks so I wouldn't have to breathe fumes every month. The kids don't maintain their shower very well and so it was disgusting. I'd rather change diapers than clean up a teenager's bathroom.

I painted the front door - will give it another coat tomorrow. There were more giant beans seeds to plant. As it is nearly November, it is officially time to switch from summer to winter even though it is not really cold yet. That means, the blankets needs to be brought out and the woven reed floor mat needs to be replaced with a heated carpet. (We don't have traditional tatami floors - all wood.) Obachan gave me a list of things to do this weekend in addition to my own list - she wants me to cut the weeds around all the fields, plow, fertilize, hoe the little garden... I need to decorate the birthday cake, hang the shelf, clean the house for guests, shop for groceries, paint Maya's wall.
