Crazy Carrots

The little veggie garden is enjoying the crisp weather and the rainfall from the other day. On Monday, we harvested a few carrots in order to thin out the row a bit and they were small. On Wednesday, we needed to thin out the rows again because the carrots had grown full size and by Friday they were giants. I don't remember carrots growing so fast. Seedlings of just a couple weeks ago are lush greenery.

I took a break from outdoors so I could paint my daughter's room. She moved into my son's room since he is away at college. The little boy's "western" themed room has vanished. I killed the cowboys. I wiped out the buffaloes. The warriors and the tepee and all the other symbols on the Ralph Lauren wallpaper are gone. End of an era. The wall is off-white and waiting for some kind of creativity to emerge upon it. I'm not sure - I have to be creative on a shoe-string so I'll dig around for some accent paints and see what I can come up with. Every time we have a project I tell myself I'm going to do it by the book, with the right brushes and mixtures and preparations. Every time I determine that I don't have the funds to buy the right things and I "make-do". Well, at this rate, we will never be able to sell the house anyway so I'm not going to worry about it being top rate professional - the room is brighter and more cheerful than before and definitely more suitable to my daughter.

I think I'll munch on some carrots and then grab my paint brushes to finish up the walls. Goodness knows, I have bunches of carrots!
