Helicopter Crop Dusting

Or as I would say it: big boys with expensive toys. The local JA (farmer's group) decided to purchase a $10,000+ radio-controlled helicopter as a means of delivering pesticides to the crops. What fun. The miniature aircraft can only carry a few liters of liquid at a time and flies forwards and backwards over the crops, buzzing around like a giant dragonfly.

The village leaders kindly warned us of the toxic play early in the morning so we could avoid hanging laundry or walking outdoors. A real crop duster could take care of the entire area in about 30 minutes. This gimmick takes 3-4 days. We are required to pay for the service. Even if someone wanted to go organic - this pretty much defeats their efforts. This spray is everywhere, whether you want it or not. Sadly, it doesn't kill mosquitoes and I just got bitten by a spring mosquito.

Bureaucratic stupidity in action...again. Yep. Bet someone is making beaucoup bucks from this. And it ain't the ones inconvenienced for 4 days.
