More bamboo shoots

After a horrible wind storm that forced rain through the leaky window frames, the air was fresh and clear again so we headed out to the bamboo grove to dig some more shoots. The rain and warm air has been good for weedy things to grow so we found a lot of large shoots as well as a few kg of small ones. Maya and Honey (the dog) joined us today. Honey was great - I would point out a shoot (she can't sniff them out!) and tell her to dig it and she would go to it, digging it halfway for us. It really helped! Crazy old dog - too bad I didn't have a picture of that. She'll do most anything for a treat. We ate obento lunches under the shade of the bamboo trees and then trimmed the shoots and took them to the market.

Ooh, did you take pics of the Obento. I love seeing bento pics. :) I sometimes make weenie Western-style ones for hubby (I have a few bento sets I got on eBay). Neither of us eat seafood (I can't; he won't), so it's usually rice or noddles with some meat or dinner leftovers. Sometimes salad and meats with fruit. :)

Sounds like a fun outing, really. I've never seen bamboo shoots in anything but a stirfry, not in the wild. PICS!!!
